Seamless Energy Update: Custom Balance Threshold for Bandwidth Protection

CatFee Seamless Energy now lets you customize the TRX balance threshold for Bandwidth Protection. Choose how low a destination address's TRX balance must be before protection can supply bandwidth, according to how you use your addresses.

Based on the CatFee user center announcement dated October 31, 2026, here is how the threshold works, when it is useful, and where to change it.

When does Bandwidth Protection trigger?

All three conditions must be met:

  1. Bandwidth Protection is enabled for the corresponding instance.
  2. The destination address has insufficient bandwidth.
  3. The destination address's TRX balance is strictly below your configured threshold.

The balance being checked belongs to the destination address on TRON, not your CatFee account. A balance equal to the threshold does not trigger protection. A low TRX balance alone does not trigger it if the address has sufficient bandwidth.

Four ways to use the threshold

Supply bandwidth to an address holding little TRX

For an address that usually holds little or no TRX, you could set the threshold to 1 TRX. If its balance is 0.2 TRX and bandwidth is insufficient, protection triggers when enabled for that instance.

Protect an address that keeps a small TRX balance

An address may keep some TRX while still needing Bandwidth Protection. For example, with a balance of 3 TRX, setting the threshold to 5 TRX makes the address eligible for protection when bandwidth is insufficient and the instance switch is on.

Intervene only when the balance is very low

With a threshold of 0.5 TRX, a balance of 2 TRX does not meet the balance condition. Protection triggers only below 0.5 TRX, with insufficient bandwidth and the instance switch on. At exactly 0.5 TRX, it does not trigger.

Stop automatic bandwidth purchases

Set the threshold to 0, or turn off Bandwidth Protection for the corresponding instance. These controls have different scopes:

  • Threshold set to 0: stops automatic bandwidth purchases through Bandwidth Protection across all Seamless Energy instances under the same user.
  • Instance switch turned off: disables Bandwidth Protection only for that instance.

The values above are examples, not recommended defaults. Choose a threshold that suits your addresses.

One shared threshold, separate instance switches

All Seamless Energy instances under the same user share one balance threshold. Changing it affects the balance condition for every instance; each instance retains its own Bandwidth Protection switch.

For example, raising the threshold to cover an address holding a small TRX reserve also changes the threshold used by your other instances. Review their switches when changing the shared value.

Fees

Bandwidth Protection is a paid service. The October 31 announcement describes the following fees:

  • The system first delegates bandwidth, with a minimum fee of 0.3 TRX.
  • If bandwidth resources are insufficient, it transfers at least 0.3 TRX to the destination address and charges an additional 0.2 TRX service fee.

The threshold controls the balance condition for triggering protection; it is not a purchase amount or a fee cap. Check the fees displayed in the user center before enabling the service.

How to change the threshold

  1. Sign in to the CatFee user center and open Seamless Energy → Settings.
  2. Find the bandwidth purchase balance threshold field.
  3. Enter your preferred value in TRX and save it.
  4. Check the Bandwidth Protection switch for each instance you want to protect.
